What Makes a Window Energy Efficient?

All the components of window play a role in how the window’s energy rating is achieved. The frame needs to be made from materials that won’t transmit hot and cold. Vinyl is excellent at NOT transmitting either the heat from your furnace or the cool from your Air Conditioning or Evaporative Cooler to the outside. It also works in the reverse from outside cold in the winter and heat in the summer not transmitting to the interior of the home. The glass needs to be properly coated with LowE coating to reflect the UV rays and the weather-stripping needs to be made so the wind and airflows are kept to an absolute minimum. Argon and Krypton Gas is also used as an additional form of insulation in the glass unit to help make the window more Energy Efficient.
